I&#8217;ve never actually taken much notice of the book itself, but it turns out to be an old, pre Pamela Clark, hard back Women&#8217;s Weekly Biscuit cook book that cost all of $2.50! Remember those days?<\/h3>\n<h3>During World War 1 these nutritious, long lasting biscuits, made with ingredients that wouldn\u2019t spoil easily during the long sea voyage, were sent to our Australian soldiers overseas. Supposedly, the name was changed from Soldiers\u2019 Biscuits to ANZAC Biscuits after the landing at Gallipoli. They were packed in used tins, such as Billy Tea tins, which kept them airtight.\u201d<\/h3>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Anzac Biscuits<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3>Makes 36<\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>1 cup rolled oats<\/h3>\n<h3>1 cup plain flour<\/h3>\n<h3>1 cup sugar (raw, white or brown)<\/h3>\n<h3>3\/4 cup coconut<\/h3>\n<h3>125g butter<\/h3>\n<h3>1 tablespoon golden syrup<\/h3>\n<h3>1 1\/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda<\/h3>\n<h3>2 tablespoons boiling water<\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Method<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Combine rolled oats, flour, sugar and coconut in a large bowl.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Place butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan over a low heat until melted or microwave in a covered bowl on medium high, stirring occasionally.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mix soda with boiling water.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Stir mixture into butter.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pour butter mixture into dry ingredients and stir until well combined.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Place tablespoonfuls of mixture onto a lightly greased or baking paper lined oven tray and flatten gently with a fork.
